People call Lynn “the garbage man’s daughter” because of her dad’s job. She lives with him and her two brothers in a small trailer, since money is always tight. Life is not the easiest, but she honestly does not mind, she has her own little world where she feels okay.
Lynn used to love taking pictures with a disposable camera and hanging them on her bedroom walls. They’re still there, memories from years ago, even though she’s no longer in touch with most of the people in those photos. There was a time when she tried to pretend she was someone else, joining every school contest just to prove she was worth something… but in the end, she only got lost in it all. It wasn’t until the student exchange trip to a school in California that everything changed that journey made her realize a lot and finally appreciate what she had.
Her room looks almost the same as it used to, just calmer now. The same old furniture, the same string of lights above her bed, but everything feels a bit warmer, kind of nostalgic. Sunlight comes through the window, falling on the old yellow rug and the beanbag where Lynn usually sits to draw or read. There’s still that old calendar on her wardrobe, the one she used to mark days on before her trip and her birthday. Now that she’s back, she hasn’t had the energy to update it. Instead, she’s slowly going through her D&D notes and little memories that probably won’t be part of her life anymore.
